Dele Lowman to Launch Campaign to Become Next Mayor of Stonecrest

ATLANTA - Aug. 24, 2023 - PRLog -- Longtime Stonecrest resident and community leader Dele Lowman launches her bid for Mayor of the City of Stonecrest on Monday, August 28, 2023. Lowman filed the necessary paperwork with the City Clerk to qualify for the November 7, 2023 mayoral election. The Lowman campaign will host its official campaign kickoff event that evening from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Belinda's Southern Cuisine located at 7322 Stonecrest Concourse, Stonecrest, GA 30038.

With a more than 20-year track record of senior leadership and a commitment to public service, Lowman is poised to bring the same vision, advocacy, and transformational leadership that she demonstrated as Chair of the DeKalb Board of Registration & Elections to the citizens of Stonecrest.

"In order for Stonecrest to flourish, we first need to do the basics well. That includes governing with transparency, getting our financial house in order, and stopping the revolving door of staff at City Hall. Then we can quickly turn our attention to the services, programs, and amenities that will enhance our quality of life and the character of our community."

Lowman's professional career boasts a wealth of applied experience that will prove vital to the office of Mayor. As a past city and county executive, Lowman oversaw a range of functions including strategic planning, human resources, communications, information technology, finance, legislative affairs, and elections. Under her leadership as Chair of the DeKalb County Board of Registration & Elections, she led a turnaround of the Voter Registration & Elections Office resulting in their recognition as the state's first Center for Elections Excellence.

Lowman has also freely given her time and expertise in service to meaningful causes in the Stonecrest community, including the Browns Mill Elementary School PTA and Principal Advisory Committee, the Governor's Commission Economic Development Subcommittee, the Stonecrest Citizens Coalition, Citizens for a Healthy and Safe Environment (CHASE), and First Afrikan Presbyterian Church.
