East Side Cheese & Provisions Will Bring Artisan Cheese To Wayland Square

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - May 24, 2023 - PRLog -- PROVIDENCE, RI – East Side Cheese & Provisions, a full-service specialty cheese shop, proudly announces that it will bring artisan cheese and accompaniments to Providence, RI in the summer of 2023. The newly leased space boasts 1,200 square-feet and is located on S. Angell Street, adjacent to UPS and across from L'Artisan Café and Bakery. The Providence-based owners, Angie and Jeff DiMeo, are specialty food consultants and the couple behind the popular Providence Date Night (https://www.instagram.com/providencedatenight/) Instagram account.

Born in Rhode Island, Jeff DiMeo has been a steward of the specialty foods industry since age 19. His first position was behind the cheese counter at Bread & Circus in Wellesley, MA where he immediately fell in love with artisan and specialty food retail. Over the next 20 years, Jeff found himself in every facet of the industry: buying, selling, importing, distributing, merchandising and even farmstead cheesemaking in Vermont. Through luck, the couple met, fell in love, and started their first venture as consultants. Their passion for food drew them to work with many local and national brands, but a proper cheese shop has always been their dream.

"Wayland Square deserves a neighborhood spot where people can find brands they know and love, but also discover new and unusual products that compel one to learn about the history, artistry, mystery and most importantly feel a stronger connection to their food through family farms and artisan makers near and far," said Jeff DiMeo, owner of East Side Cheese & Provisions. "Cheese is delicious, yes, but a part of why we exist is to support those smaller producers trying to preserve their own traditions, land and way of life."

Beyond cheese, the new store will also feature a selection of pantry staples and items that pair well with cheese including artisan crackers, jams, pickled items, olives, artisan charcuterie, ready-to-go drinks and more. The shop will have a focus on distinctive and exciting cheese & charcuterie boards that will be available to grab-and-go or order in advance online. The DiMeos are particularly excited about offering classes, tastings, pairings and fun events like Cheesy Bingo & Foodie Trivia.

East Side Cheese & Provisions is in the shopping district of Wayland Square at 17 S. Angell Street in Providence. The retail destination is owned and managed by the well-known real estate developer, Dulgarian Properties.
