Let's celebrate! Making Waves finishes with a splash!

TOMS RIVER, N.J. - April 18, 2023 - PRLog -- The Ocean County YMCA has reached its goal of raising $185,000 for the "Making Waves for the Next Generation" initiative.

The Making Waves initiative officially kicked off at the Y's 2021 Red Triangle Reception in late fall of 2021. Donations will benefit the improvements to the Y's 12-lane aquatic center.

"From our swimmers and supporters to all our community partners and donors, we could not have done this without you," said Gretchen Insole, Executive Director of the Ocean County YMCA. "We would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to our late board member Jim Buffum's grandchildren on supporting us through their lemonade stand."

Now that the Y has raised $185,000 through this initiative, The H. Hovnanian Family Foundation has graciously offered to match these fundraising efforts.

"Our Foundation is committed to giving back to those communities that are located in areas where our family has been fortunate enough to do business," said Edele Hovnanian of the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation. "The YMCA is just the type of community strengthening organization that our foundation is proud to support."

Michael P. Ritacco, Board of Directors' Chair of the Ocean County YMCA, says, "Thousands of individuals from our community and beyond have enjoyed the pool for over 20 years and now they will have the opportunity to enjoy it for many more years to come."

Insole continued, "We are grateful to the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation for its generous gift, as well as to the entire community for supporting our endeavors."
