Alten Construction and Channel Lumber donate $2,500 worth of lumber to Redwood High School

LARKSPUR, Calif. - March 28, 2023 - PRLog -- Alten Construction (https://www.altenconstruction.com/), a full-service San Francisco Bay Area commercial construction company, recently partnered with Channel Lumber (https://www.channellumber.com/) to donate $2,500 worth of lumber to Redwood High School (https://www.tamdistrict.org/redwood) for its construction technology program.

This is the second year in a row that Alten Construction has donated lumber to the high school.

"It is incredibly fulfilling to give back to programs like the construction technology class," said Bob Alten, president and CEO of Alten Construction. "Alten Construction actively works to recruit and retain young talent for the construction industry, and implementing programs like this while they are still in high school gives them a first-hand look at a career in construction."

Students participating in the program learn a variety of skills and techniques vital to the construction industry and are tasked with building custom sheds for private buyers, among other items. This semester, the students are working on constructing two sheds and two accessory dwelling units. The lumber donated by Alten Construction and Channel Lumber will go towards these projects.

"We've had the great pleasure of working with Alten Construction for over 25 years," said Scott Hamataka, sales manager for Channel Lumber. "When speaking with Bob about this program, he explained the whole process of having the kids build these sheds as a learning experience. I could hear the excitement in his voice when he talked about it, and we're so proud that we can also help support this program."

The Regional Occupational Program (ROP) construction technology class consists of approximately 27 high school students from Redwood High School, Terra Linda High School and Novato High School, and meets every Wednesday during the spring semester from 5 to 9 p.m.
