What is the Difference between AI and ML?
AI and ML are often used interchangeably to describe intelligent software or system. While Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are closely related, there are some differences between these two.
What is Artificial Intelligence?
Artificial Intelligence is a branch of computer science trying to bring human thinking capability and behavior into machines. In other words, AI is the ability of a computer or machine to mimic human cognitive functions such as learning and problem-solving. AI performs tasks that require human intelligence such as thinking, reasoning, learning from experience, and making decisions.
What is Machine Learning?
Machine Learning is a subcategory of Artificial Intelligence allowing machines to automatically learn from data without being programmed for specific tasks. To put it simply, ML aims to enable machines to learn by themselves using data in order to make increasingly better decisions.
Business benefits of Machine Learning may include user behavior analysis, improved automation, product personalization, customer service improvement, predictive maintenance, financial analysis, fraud detection, security enhancement, etc.
For example, most e-commerce websites use machine learning tools that provide recommendations for different products based on historical data. If you frequently search for programming books on Amazon and buy one of them, the home page of Amazon will show you a list of programming books.
