Author Timothy Keys to speak at The Basics of Self-Publishing forum

BATON ROUGE, La. - Sept. 5, 2022 - PRLog -- The event is sponsored by the Out the Box Center (OTBC) and Capital Area Reentry Program (CARP). The venue address is 9148 Scotland Avenue, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and will be the perfect location for such an event. The Out the Box Center is a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community, providing fellowship, education and awareness while developing activities and programming that empowers individuals to focus on their holistic health by offering supporting and linkage services.

Author Keys is a Baton Rouge, Louisiana native who traveled the world while finding himself - and what he found in himself is an amazing, multi-talented human being who brightens the world around him. His human experience includes having to come to terms with being a gay Black man who grew up in the Deep South. He is also a U.S. Army Veteran who, upon discharge, moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he became a popular Paul Mitchell educated hair stylist and now, a successful author. His first book, "I Don't Want to Be That", is described as a candid, honest and inspiring book that brings the reader into Author Keys' truth, despite the expectations of others. Growing up in Baton Rouge, he knew he wanted more than the poverty and crime dealt by the city. He sought refuge in the church and military, both of which are harsh to gay men. Despite certain obstacles, Author Keys' courage and inner strength motivated him to evolve into a man who is a joy and light to others. His follow-up book, "Are You Going To Be That?: The Struggle of Life, Strength and Faith", delves deeper into stories about Keys' life and faith. The book is described as "pulling the cover back from" the experiences of many in marginalized communities. It leaves the reader with a message of hope and grace.

Author Keys' upcoming event will not only be an opportunity to learn more about the benefits of self-publishing, but it will also serve as a springboard for the many new opportunities on the horizon. He is already making a difference by serving as an inspiration in many lives and that influence will only grow in the near future.
