Jacobs Elected to Membership in The American Law InstituteBy: Snell & Wilmer The American Law Institute is the leading independent organization in the United States producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and improve the law. The ALI drafts, discusses, revises, and publishes Restatements of the Law, Model Codes, and Principles of Law that are enormously influential in the courts and legislatures, as well as in legal scholarship and education. By participating in the Institute's work, its distinguished members have the opportunity to influence the development of the law in both existing and emerging areas, to work with other eminent lawyers, judges, and academics, to give back to a profession to which they are deeply dedicated, and to contribute to the public good. As the head of the firm's appellate practice, Jacobs is a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers and a veteran appellate advocate with over 50 appellate arguments under his belt. These include twenty in the Ninth Circuit and others in the Seventh Circuit, Tenth Circuit, and the appellate courts of Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Utah, and Washington. Jacobs has long worked for law improvement and reform. He co-founded the District of Arizona's pro bono program in 2007, was a leading drafter of reforms to the Arizona Rules of Civil Procedure, was Chair of the State Bar Civil Practice and Procedure Committee from 2014-2018, and has been appointed by the Arizona Supreme Court to five different commissions or task forces, concerning court rules, justice reform, jury reform, judicial performance, and judicial ethics. In 2016, the State Bar of Arizona honored him with a Member of the Year award. End
