By: NewTek Sensors New winding techniques also improve the stroke-to-length ratio of NewTek's Modern Linear Position Sensors by up to 80% over legacy sensors. A high stroke/length ratio increases the measurement range over legacy sensors without adding to sensor weight and size. Improved microprocessors enable NewTek LVDTs to perform better by correcting errors caused by the sensor's characteristics or environment. While a standard linear position sensor may have a linearity of +/-0.25% of full-scale output, NewTek's LVDT with microprocessing linearizes output to an available +/-0.1% of full-scale output. NewTek also can embed more control into the sensor housing while keeping the overall package size small. Newtek Modern LVDTs are energy efficient, consuming low energy and operating on today's conventional signals of 24 VDC for which there are numerous power supply options, or 3Vrms @2.5 kHz that is producible by most signal generators. In Modern LVDTs, excitation signal requirements are around 3 Vrms and frequencies ranging from 1kHz to 10 kHz. NewTek offers drop-in replacements for many common legacy LVDTs used on stream turbines and other applications.
