PETALUMA, Calif. - March 21, 2022 - PRLog -- The ribbon-cutting ceremony for People's Village took place at the end of February.  QuickHaven was there, "The ribbon-cutting ceremony was a proud moment for us," stated Dan Bodner, QuickHaven CEO.  Each tiny home is built at QuickHaven's Rohnert Park CA factory by a staff of people who themselves have experienced homelessness.  "Everyone is invested in the common goal of helping people back to independent living, so today's deployment is especially meaningful", said Bodner.  "Guests were able to see site improvements, tour our housing units, and gain an in-depth understanding of the vision for this unique project before the residents begin moving in."

After comparing a number of options and products and having a side-by-side demonstration, the Petaluma City Council voted unanimously to purchase 25 of QuickHaven's Transitionals shelters.  Residents are expected to start occupying the village in March.  Bradly Brown, who will be living in one of the comfortable shelters and had the opportunity to visit the village, described it as "a sizeable private room, accompanied by daily, hot meals, case management as needed and other city-provided services."

So far, of 25 planned housing units, 16 have been delivered and nine are installed.  Working in conjunction with the City of Petaluma is the  Mary Isaak Center and the COTS organization, who will be administering the village and have been identifying candidates for the units. There already is a waiting list compiled by COTS, with about 30 residents for the 25 units. Those with health vulnerabilities staying at an encampment near Steamer Landing Park will have top priority, according to village services manager Stacie Questoni. QuickHaven is nearing the finish line to deliver the remaining units, and will then turn its attention to a similar project being undertaken by the City of Portland, OR.
