Local CEO Increases Certifications
Real Estate Executive Garners Women's Entrepreneurship and Diversity Credentials
By: Keaton Barrow Realty
"Going through the process of receiving these certifications has strengthened my commitment to helping other women and young people learn critical entrepreneurial skills that will allow them to secure their futures and build generational wealth." Keaton-Barrow said. "I am thankful for the opportunities I have had to build my own knowledge and create an even better experience for my clients and team."
The Institute for Women's Entrepreneurship is a collaboration between Bank of America and Cornell University to deliver an online learning portal that provides women entrepreneurs with the skills, knowledge and resources necessary to build, manage, and scale a successful business.
The Diversity and Inclusion Certificate stems from the premise that an organization is only as good as its culture—and building that culture is every manager's and employee's responsibility. Starting with a look at employee engagement, then identifying interventions surrounding unconscious bias and specific diversity and inclusion strategies, this program is designed to take leaders beyond mere compliance to build a truly aware and inclusive work culture.
"Combined, these certificates provide an even stronger base for building a culture of inclusion both within my own offices and in the wider community we serve," Keaton-Barrow noted.
With more than 30 years' experience in commercial and residential real estate, Keaton-Barrow has developed a reputation as an experienced businesswoman and a trusted expert whose knowledge of current market trends, neighborhood statistics, and insurance information is unmatched. She honed her leadership skills as a college professor, business owner and board member. Her passion for philanthropy is demonstrated by the numerous non-profit and charitable entities that she supports. In addition to her role with North State Bank, she serves on the boards of the United Minority Contractors of North Carolina, the Wake County Community Foundation, and the Women's Impact Fund of Charlotte. She is also on the Leadership Board with the LPGA Amateurs, SandHills Chapter, is a member of the Junior League of Raleigh at the Sustainer level, and supports philanthropic endeavors and agencies like the Food Bank and Meals on Wheels with time, talent and treasure.
