ACEC/MA Announces Beals and Thomas as a Finalist for 2021 Engineering Excellence Award

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Feb. 4, 2022 - PRLog -- The American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) has named Beals and Thomas as a Finalist for the 2021 Engineering Excellence Award for their work on the Cambridge Crossing.

The Cambridge Crossing Roadway and Infrastructure Project provides the vital street and utility systems necessary to serve the 45-acre mixed-use, transit-oriented development at the intersection of Cambridge, Boston, and Somerville.  The Project Team was able to overcome the complex environmental remediation, geotechnical, sewerage, and stormwater challenges to create sustainable, pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly parks and infrastructure that are the central hub of the Cambridge Crossing development.  Through the successful coordination between the owner, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders, the site that was once a former abandoned rail yard, is being transformed into an attractive, new mixed-use neighborhood.

The 2021 Engineering Excellence Awards were recently announced and were celebrated at the virtual ACEC/MA Engineering Excellence and Awards Gala. The awards celebrate innovation, ingenuity, and excellence in engineering achievement.
