• Qualification: Pass with aggregate 40% marks in 10th or 12th standard from a recognized board and 40% marks in English language.
• Age limit: 17.5 to 25 years. For diploma or degree holders, the age limit is 27 at the time of course commencement.
• Medical requirements: Candidates should be medically and physically fit for sea service under DG norms. A complete eyesight test will also be conducted in which the distance vision should be 6/6 with no color blindness.

Career opportunities:

After completing the 6 months of pre-sea training, your career path as a seafarer begins. You can begin as a trainee ordinary seamen and work on a ship for 12 months. After that, you need to obtain your watchkeeping certificate which will help you get promoted as Able body seaman.

Next, you can obtain a COC and get promoted to Bosun after completing 12 to 18 months of experience as Able body seamen. Further, you can get promoted as Deck officer, 2nd Officer, and Chief Officer, and ultimately as the Captain of the ship.
