Do It Right the First Time — Why Cheaper Solar Will Costs You More
With the proliferation of low-cost solar systems on the market, we are sadly witnessing an increase in customer concerns about being trapped with unreliable systems that fail after just a short time on the roof.
By: Sunburn Solar
Problem #1: Bad quality panels
Many low-cost solar systems are low-cost because they employ low-quality, unbranded solar panels. These panels degrade rapidly and are readily damaged. Yellowing panels, corroding panels, delamination, and hotspots are all prevalent problems.
All of these can have a detrimental impact on output, but hotspots are extremely harmful since they can induce cell damage or even entire system failure.
Problem #2: Unreliable inverters
A good inverter is defined by its conversion efficiency, established brand performance, and product and brand lifetime. Furthermore, because the inverter is one of the most critical components of a solar system, and any problems must be repaired as soon as possible, dependable assistance is essential.
Inverters used in low-cost solar systems are frequently of poor quality. These inverters may be inexpensive to purchase, but they have a short lifespan and cannot be repaired.
High-quality inverters, such as those made by Fronius, SolarEdge, and Enphase, may cost two to three times as much as cheaper options, but they provide great efficiency ratings, high performance, and highly dependable customer support.
Problem #3: Limited warranty
Be wary that low-end solar systems may come with a guarantee at the time the items are delivered to you, but when something goes wrong, the installer may no longer exist and the panel or inverter manufacturer may no longer be operating in Australia. Who would then warranty the damaged items for you?
Problem #4: Terrible installation and support
Some companies, such as LG Solar, offer branded solar systems at extremely low prices. How do they accomplish this? Most of the time, they wind up taking shortcuts on the actual solar installation.
We've observed a wide range of installation concerns, including inverter placement in direct north or westerly sun, defective or exposed cabling, cable run over gutters, unsightly panel placing, improper panel positioning with substantial overshadowing issues, damaged tiles, and more. Poor techniques that are not in accordance with Australian regulations will not only result in unsightly panel installations, but will also cause difficulties and damage in the future.
Sunburn Solar believes in only supplying the best equipment to guarantee that our customers get the most out of their solar system. We install high-quality LG solar panels as well as dependable high-end inverters from Fronius, Enphase, and SolarEdge.
