BOSTON - Nov. 19, 2021 - PRLog -- Plymouth's historic, annual "America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration" (AHTC) is back, and this year it's LIVE on WCVB Channel 5. WCVB will air exclusive coverage of the parade and its pageantry on Saturday, November 20 from 10AM-12PM marking the first time in the parade's 25-year history that it will be broadcast live to the Boston market. WCVB will also stream the AHTC parade live on WCVB.com and on the WCVB app. There will be an encore showing of the special on Thanksgiving morning starting at 9AM. WCVB EyeOpener anchors Antoinette Antonio and Doug Meehan will host the parade, along with Ollie deMacedo, long-time parade Executive Director, and Dr. Paul Jehle, the Executive Director of the Plymouth Rock Foundation and Historian. WCVB anchors Maria Stephanos and Ed Harding and meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbon will serve as the parade's Grand Marshals as they ride through the streets of Plymouth, providing color commentary from WCVB's official float that will celebrate the station's 50th anniversary since its founding in 1972.
The parade kicks off at 10AM from historic Plymouth Rock and then will continue around Water Street to Court Street, ending at the corner of Court Street and Nelson Street.
This year's festivities will mark the 400th anniversary of Thanksgiving and continue to serve as an important link to our nation's history and heritage. The parade, one of the top ranked Thanksgiving parades in the nation since its inception 25 years ago, will again weave its way through downtown Plymouth and historic waterfront after a year's hiatus due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The lineup will include beautifully decorated floats that not only represent historic events, but also honor national anniversaries and celebrate every period of American history. The parade will also feature local musical acts, high school marching bands, drum and bugle corps, and military bands that march through the streets in honor of our country's military personnel and veterans.
