The importance of getting blood testing really begins with the realities of the human body's anatomy and physiology. This is to say that examining the blood serves as a primary means of determining what, if any, medical conditions might be present, developing, or will possibly occur at some point in the future. Without such a test, there's no good way to make such health assessments that are anywhere as nearly accurate or insightful.

This is precisely why doctors draw blood in the first place. Through various tests, they are able to discern a patient's health status that is not otherwise determinable through other means, such as temperature, blood pressure, conditions of the eyes and ears and lungs, reflexes, and so on. Though these other methods do give them indication about certain types of physical conditions, they are not nearly comprehensive enough.

Blood tests reveal many things about the internal health of a patient's body. For example, a blood test will reveal the wellness of the kidneys, hearts, thyroid, liver, as well as other organs. Additionally, they reveal traits about a patient's diet and physicians can make recommendations about altering that diet in order to avail their patients of better eating practices.

Moreover, a blood test can reveal if there is an infection, there is the presence of one or more genetic conditions, and help doctors assess how well or poorly blood is clotting. These are extremely important insights because they allow physicians to recommend regimens, and or prescribe medication, that can either alleviate symptoms or help cure something. For instance, a blood test might reveal a deficiency in iron, in which case a doctor may recommend to his or her patient to take vitamins or eat certain foods, or a combination of the two.

More importantly, a blood test can also reveal very serious diseases, such as coronary heart disease, HIV, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, anemia, and other dangerous health conditions.
