Scott Nichols Joins COE Distributing Executive Team as Vice President of Sales
By: COE Distributing
In this role, Nichols will develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with the long-term objectives of the company, reporting directly to COE President and COO Mike Flaherty.
Nichols will set monthly, annual and 10-year sales targets for COE while identifying new customers and growth opportunities. Taking responsibility for his department's performance against targets, he will assess marketplace dynamics and optimize all areas of sales, including customer profitability, program design, incentives and promotions.
"Scott is a brilliant strategist with outstanding analytical capabilities and a deep product knowledge," Flaherty said. "I look forward to seeing the incredible results the sales team will achieve under his leadership."
COE welcomed Nichols in January 2021 as Director of E-Commerce Sales Strategy, a position created to measure and enhance e-commerce business by implementing best practices to maximize growth and sales and creating best-in-class representation of products on e-commerce platforms.
"Scott brings unique sales experience and complementary talent to the VP of Sales role, which is very exciting," said COE Chairman and CEO J.D. Ewing. "Scott deepens our top-level talent which will certainly pay dividends as our executive team continually pursues growth initiatives."
He joined COE from Milwaukee-based National Business Furniture, where he spent 13 years in a variety of roles involving merchandising, product management, e-commerce, channel development, sales, global sourcing, pricing, customer service, market strategy and vendor relations. He moves into the sales vice president role vacated by Stan Idzi, who shifted into a new executive position devoted to product creation with an emphasis on innovative design.
"Scott brings proven technical talent, thoughtful leadership and vast industry experience to COE's sales team, positioning us well to respond to changes in our industry," Idzi said.
Swiftly responding to rapidly changing market conditions and making big shifts to meet customer needs has been key to COE's recent successes. Pivoting when offices closed in 2020, COE enhanced its product offerings to help customers find ways to make their offices safer. COE produced acrylic screens and dividers and antimicrobial upholstery for chairs yielding some of the company's most profitable months in history. As office environments continue to evolve, COE is working to help customers envision the space that best carries their business forward.
"I've had a great experience at COE and can't wait to work with more of the team in this new role and encourage continued success and growth," Nichols said.
