The writer has shared that this story is in the public domain and predates the French version of Cinderella by about a thousand years! (Yuen's adaptation is based on "Yeh-Shen: A Cinderella Story From China," as retold by Ai-Ling Louie from a story translated from The Miscellaneous Record of Yu Yang as written by Tuan Ch'eng-Shih.) In adapting this magical story for musical theater, Yuen, who is not only serving as Book Writer, but also Co-Lyricist on the project, selected Liz Lai of the Greater Los Angeles, California Area, to serve as Composer and Co-Lyricist. Yuen and Lai have been working from the Chinese version of the story, adapted into English by Yuen. The 2021 Reading marks an important step in the eventual goal to present the musical in a fully-staged version, with all of the color and glory and funny, historical twists that come with it with an Asian instead of French setting. It is envisioned that people from all regions of the world will hopefully get to enjoy the show. Rieny G. Cualoping has been selected as Executive Producer for the 2021 Reading. Requests for images or media interview requests may be directed to ENERI Communications at info@enericom.net . For underwriting and patron opportunities for the "C2," please contact ENERI Communications at info@enericom.net . The musical is written for a cast of seven, with two roles doubled up (five acting roles total). Potential casting director, graphic designer, cast, crew, musicians, dancers, set designers and others interested in learning more about the production as it develops over time (both the 2021 Reading and future life), may e-mail info@enericom.net with the subject line "C2" to get on the opportunity e-mail list.
