Meet the author …

Michael Bruce Blackwell is a native South Texan, born in Alice and raised in nearby Kingsville. He attended Texas A & I University in Kingsville, the University of Texas at Austin, and Abilene Christian University where he was awarded his bachelor's degree in 1980. He has earned seven Physical Fitness Trainer certifications through WEFNA and holds a black belt in Taekwondo. He has served as a state-certified defensive tactics instructor for law enforcement and is a graduate of the Travis County Sheriff's Academy in Austin where he received certification as a corrections officer. He lives in McAllen, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley, and is married with two grown children, three grandchildren, and one too many cats.
