Author L.A. Thompson puts a spectacular spin on the fantastical world with her blockbuster debut novel, Isle of Dragons.

Thompson said her inspiration came from her long love of stories that take place in other worlds and her desire to create a world like that of her own one day. She creates that world incorporating her own flair into the genre, noting, "At first, it was the standard fantasy, with Jade escaping on horse, but that brought about questions of how she was able to outrun her pursuers for so long on just a horse and I wanted something that didn't just rely on magic. I took my passion for steampunk and incorporated animal themed machines as a way to take the fantasy genre in a unique direction. The mechanical creatures became the standard model for everyone, with different creatures innovated for different nations and climates."
This clever integration is being recognized by reviewers as original and refreshing. Reader Views says, "I really liked that the author included elements of innovation because it updated the story and made it more fantastical than just the standard fantasy of ancient castles and dragons." Self-Publishing Review adds it's, "An edgy steampunk thriller that blends genres in an exhilarating way."
Isle of Dragons (ISBN: 9798571926171, Independently Published, 2020) can be purchased through local and online bookstores.
