A link directory is a website whose sole purpose is to display other websites and an associated backlinks to these. 4-5 years ago, link directory subscriptions were a pretty sensible way to create inbound links. They have never been fantastic links, because they rarely lead to any visits.

You have probably heard the motto that link directories do not work and that they are a waste of time, but this is not quite the case in the real world. IP Diversity

IP diversity is really important. Roughly speaking, it is about getting links from websites with different IP addresses, because it indicates that it is a healthy and varied link profile.

If your links primarily come from closely related IP addresses, then something may indicate that you are responsible for most of your link profile - and you need to be careful with that. Try as much as possible to get as wide a profile as possible at this very point. When I do link audits, one of the first things I look at is how many IP addresses the link profile is spread out on. It provides a quick insight into how healthy the link profile is. You can find the same thing in most link analysis tools.

Personally, I always use link directories on virtually all sites, just to get a diversion in IP addresses in my link profile.

In Denmark, we do not have many server providers, and the providers we have do not have many IP ranges available. Therefore, it often happens in Denmark that you are at the same or almost identical IP address at the same host despite different domain names and any registrant info.

Often, however, it is a slightly diversified IP range, such as a unique class D, which means the last range in the IP range, (aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd).

It is such that the more unique links you have from separate IP addresses, the more versatile your link profile is. It also means that even the weakest links count in the big accounts, and here link directories fall under.
