Libman Education Introduces Coding Workspace™ Next Generation Coder Training

BEDFORD, Mass. - Feb. 23, 2021 - PRLog -- Libman Education's Coding Workspace™ is a next generation answer to provide high-engagement and challenging hands-on coding practice coupled with detailed guidance on correct code assignment.  Using a small number of carefully selected, real-world cases that vary in complexity from basic to advanced, Coding Workspace™ will sharpen the coder's essential skills making them truly workforce-ready.

"While a lecture or webinar can be a good start to learning to code medical records, it is just a start and more focused education and hands-on experience is necessary to truly master this difficult and important skill," said Lynn Kuehn, MS, RHIA, CCS-P, FAHIMA, author of the newly released Coding Workspace™: Inpatient Obstetrics. "This course comes closer than anything I have done before to mimic how coders actually do their work to achieve accurate, by-the-book, complete, and defensible coding."

Coding Workspace™: Inpatient Obstetrics is available now and will soon be joined by modules focused on inpatient Cardiology, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery and Spinal.  Future expansion into outpatient and profee services is also envisioned. How it Works
Organized as an online work queue, the cases within Coding Workspace™ lead the learner through the process of coding an inpatient medical record:

- Evaluate the documentation and apply UHDDS definitions to assign both ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes
- "Finalize" code selection and receive immediate feedback identifying correct codes and any additional codes missed
- View where the vital information that supports the code selection is located in the documentation
- LibmanLightbox™ lessons to deepen understanding

"COVID-19 has been a catalyst for organizations worldwide to search for innovative solutions to provide high-quality training to their dispersed workforce.  By some estimates, fewer than 20% of HIM professionals, including coders, now work onsite. Coder training that in the past might have been provided in person is now being offered online by necessity," said Susan Pepple, President of Libman Education.  "The disruption caused by COVID-19 accelerated our development of Coding Workspace™ to provide this much needed training to coders now working remotely from both their organization and their colleagues.  Coding Workspace™ promotes engagement with challenging real-world cases while offering independent self-study."
