ST. PAUL, Minn. - March 28, 2021 - PRLog -- In honor of International Women's Day, Dr. Artika R. Tyner, Ed.D., M.P.P., J.D., was a guest on NBC's Today Show with co-host Jenna Bush Hager during its "Women Are Essential" virtual event. Tyner spoke about the power of women coming together and how she's been mobilizing women to advance social change. Tyner has been supporting women in developing their leadership skills and making a difference in their local communities.

"This global day of celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women reminds us of what is possible with unity and collective power," said Tyner.

A prolific author, Tyner's upcoming book "The Inclusive Leader: Intentional Action for Justice and Equity" is a blueprint for the diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) that she's working to achieve. Her goal is to aid women leaders in discovering the leader within. Tyner's message is powerful and the Today Show co-host used her metaphor when she described the transformative power of a chorus of women working together in unity.  "We are creating a chorus of women being in one accord for the fight for justice and freedom," said Tyner.

Her book is available for pre-order (https://planting-people-growing-justice-leadership-instit...) at Planting People Growing Justice Bookstore. The book is a guide for inclusive leadership and provides women leaders with practical steps they can take to effect change while grappling with obstacles that include unconscious and implicit biases. It encourages honest discussions rooted in the principles of DEI and informed by leadership principles

Tyner provides her Leadership Framework for Action™ for four stages of learning that encompasses:
  • Intrapersonal (engaging in self-discovery)
  • Interpersonal (building an authentic relationship with others)
  • Organizational (establishing strategic outcomes and promoting equity)
  • Societal (developing sustainable, durable solutions)

"As you embark on a learning journey within each of these stages, you are making a commitment to serve as a leader who will make a difference in the world," said Tyner. "This book will give women leaders the tools to reimagine themselves as innovators, builders, and change agents."

Tyner's appearance on the Today Show's "Women Are Essential (https://www.today.com/video/today-s-jenna-bush-hager-host...)" segment helped provide perspective on the many ways that the pandemic has taken a toll on women in the workforce, the economic equality that's been lost as a result, and the essential roles women hold throughout society. Her upcoming book provides a guide to DEI that will help women reclaim their roles in leading change.
