First USA Water Polo sanctioned event in the country since Covid Pandemic to be hosted in St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Nov. 10, 2020 - PRLog -- This weekend, November 14-15, Next Level Water Polo will host Battle of the Bay Water Polo tournament, were 42 teams from around the country will come to compete in the first USA Water Polo sanctioned tournament since the COVID-19 pandemic. This will have over 500 athletes spread out in two different pools in Pinellas County, North Shore Aquatic Center in Saint Petersburg, Florida and the Long Center in Clearwater.

This will be the first step at testing how prepared the water polo community is to open back up. Both pools have mandated big liability waivers and each athlete is required to wear masks around pool until they get in the water to play. Spectators are being held to a minimum to minimize risk of spreading. 60 spectator spots will be offered at each pool, with social distancing marks in place for where to sit in stands and masks will be required to be worn.

New rules have been set in place by the host club to decrease risk of spread. Designated team areas, limited roster size, flow of pool traffic and car traffic, live streaming in a near outside field for spectators, and multiple sanitation stations are some examples that have been set up to minimize risk.

This will be the 3rd year of the Battle of the Bay tournament. There will be competitions in the 12 and under, 14u, 16u, 18u and open men and women divisions.
