"I never thought in a million years that I would be pursuing plus-sized modeling because I associated beauty with being thin growing up because every single one of my friends that I was around, they were all very small," said Pelayo.

She emphasizes the importance of pursuing modeling because you are passionate about it– not for the paycheck. She encourages models to use their voice in this business and negotiate for what you believe you deserve.
