NEW YORK - Sept. 16, 2020 - PRLog -- AdvisorSmith, a leading resource for small businesses, published its newest analysis, and found the top small, midsize, and large cities in the country that offer the best opportunities for librarians.

In the U.S., there are 135,690 librarians employed. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, librarian jobs are expected to grow six percent from 2018 to 2028.

AdvisorSmith analyzed 339 metropolitan areas and measured the average librarian's salary, the cost of living, and the concentration of jobs in each city using data from the U.S Census Bureau.

The best cities for librarians were located in cities that hosted major colleges or research universities. These cities provided a large source of employment and tended to pay higher salaries.

The best city for librarians was Ithaca, New York. The average librarian salary in Ithaca is $70,200, while the national average is $61,920. There are also 365 percent more librarian jobs in the area compared to the national average.
