BrainTrain Releases Test of Attention and Executive Functioning for In-Home Testing

RICHMOND, Va. - Oct. 9, 2020 - PRLog -- Psychological software company, BrainTrain, has released the MeSA, a computerized assessment which tests a person's attention, mental processing speed and mental flexibility – all essential in executive functioning and planning. In about ten minutes, healthcare professionals can evaluate mental functioning abilities often impaired in individuals with cognitive difficulties. Thus, it can aid professionals in evaluating strengths and weaknesses in individuals suffering from Dementia, Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), ADHD, or Learning Disorders. Clients can use this Windows software to safely take the test at home or while social distancing in the office using an iPad. Results are immediately securely uploaded to the clinician's computer.

The MeSA measures the two components of Executive Functioning - Attention Control (AC) and Executive Control (EC), the cognitive ability enabling one to self-direct for achievement of personal goals by activating working memory. Two versions exist – MeSA-IE, (ages 8-14) and MeSA-AE, (ages 15-89).

It also interfaces with BrainTrain's IVA-2 - ADHD report writing software. Reports in Word format help guide clinicians to quickly understand an individual's problems and develop comprehensive treatment plans. Once problems are identified, many people struggling to achieve occupational or academic goals, due to ADHD or MCI, can be greatly helped.

The MeSA is easy to use, because test administration is automated and its scoring and draft interpretative reports facilitate understanding of the test results. Based on the well-known Trail Making Test, the MeSA features comprehensive multi-study research norms based on testing of over 6,000 individuals and adjusts its scores based on age and education level. Professionals can administer it remotely or in the office, since it interfaces with any iPad. Test administration and feedback are provided by the computer and "non-judgmental."
