Natoshia Burney said that she got into this field to help people who may have had misfortunes with the law, but who are looking to turn over a new leaf and make better life choices.

"A lot of DUI schools are very small and impersonal, but when people come into NBK, they understand that we care about them as a person as well," she said. "We want to help customers with alcohol or drug problems who want to obey the law…it's not just about getting their driver's licenses back, it's about providing therapy so they make good decisions and hold themselves accountable."

NBK offers customers a variety of resources to help people achieve that goal, including counseling, sponsors, and even preventative courses to identify self-destructive behavior.

NBK also offers traditional driving instruction courses to people of any age looking to reduce their insurance costs or earn their driver's license. And currently, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, online virtual classes are currently available to keep customers safe until conditions improve.

While NBK currently only deals with the general public, Burney noted that her eventual goal is to make their services available to local prison populations as well.

Burney notes that it's very rewarding to help members of the community through difficult periods of their lives and eventually better themselves in the end.

"I have undergraduate degrees in psychology and adult education, and the one thing I've always wanted to do in life is to help people," she said. "People aren't always treated as human beings, and that's my goal. I'm passionate about teaching people that they matter, that they're important."
