NEW YORK - April 27, 2020 - PRLog -- Voting, Health, Money and Safety are all important, but we must handle all of these matters wisely. So many of our ancestors gave their lives so that we could enjoy the right to vote, but what good is the right if we don't vote? In 2016 after enjoying the fruits of the most historic and positive term of a presidency for the American people, I am sad to say that the voting rate for Black people dropped off significantly according to the Census Bureau. While voting turnout in general was 65.3, but unfortunately, the percent for Black people decreased to 59.6. In 2012 more of us voted than the number of non-Black people. 66.6 percent of us voted compared with 64.1 percent of non-Black people. What happened to the people? Did we forget the sacrifices, even those who died to give us the right to vote? We can't blame young people for this decrease. They actually increased their voting—so did white people.

By not voting, an Administration was elected that has been working since the day they took over to do everything possible to take away the health care benefits for which the Obama Administration worked so hard to gain added benefits not just for Black people but for all people. Yet, because of the past wounds of circumstance in the Black community that have never been healed from slavery, segregation and other injustices, many of us wound up with high blood pressure, diabetes, and other illnesses causing us to have a greater need for health care than many others.

Voting, health, money and safety are controlled by the way we vote or not vote. So, during this COVID-19, Dr. E. Faye Williams who is President of the National Congress of Black Women and I have joined forces to help to register people online. Her members will be assisting anyone who calls the Joe Simon National Voter Registration Drive at 877 805-8447. We must address the important issue that there is still too little engagement in the political process. That lack of engagement leaves too many of our communities at the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to health, money and safety in our communities.

Let's move to the money and the economy. Some people so love money that they miss the fact that the love of money is the root of all evil. The love of money will make you hurt people in order to get it, and when you get it chances are you will become ungrateful, disrespectful, and disobedient. Too often people believe it is their responsibility to build the economy for themselves alone with no concern about the homeless, the indigent, the poor and needy, the jobless and even their families. You will even take from them. My friends, when we love people, as God commands us to do, we do not destroy them based on evil motives.

All people deserve safety. It is our duty to protect each other. When we love people, we want to protect them. Don't be deceived by lies and falsehood about others. It is our responsibility to love one another as God loves us. It is also our duty to love people so that we are never tempted to destroy them based on evil motives.

The love of money is the root of all evil. The love of money will cause a person to hurt people and their social needs. The love of money will make you mean. The love of money can and will make you ungrateful, disrespectful and disobedient to yourself, your family and your fellow citizens. Instructions and Warnings: My friends, when you love people you do not destroy them based on evil motives. We should never be tempted by lies and falsehoods about others. We must keep our eyes on the future reward promised for our good. We must keep walking a straight path that our path and our lives may not be disabled, that we are safe from harm. God helps those who help themselves. A key part of helping yourself is your vote.

Be sure you are registered so that when November 3, 2020 comes you are prepared to make your vote count.

"If you are not registered to vote, you've moved since the last time you voted or changed your name, do the following: Go to https://www.usa.gov/register-to-vote; Check Voting and Elections and follow the prompts; If you need help, call Joe Simon's line at 877-805-8447."
