Zwei Charakterstücke by Goepfart - Transcribed for Alto Flute

Karl Eduard Goepfart (1859-1942) was a German pianist, composer and conductor.  The eldest son of the teacher and cantor Christian Heinrich Goepfart, Karl Goepfart studied both with his father and with Franz Liszt.  He toured as a theater conductor in the United States and in Germany.  His compositions include several operas, two symphonies, sacred music, and numerous songs.

Goepfart's Zwei Charakterstücke, Op. 27 (Two Character Pieces) were written for oboe and piano and were first published in Leipzig in 1888 by Friedrich Hofmeister.  The two contrasting pieces are the very charming I. Mässig schnell, gehend and II.
