SMITHFIELD, N.C. - March 30, 2020 - PRLog -- After responding to a disturbance call yesterday evening near 39th Drive and Pinnacle Peak Road in Phoenix, Arizona, Commander Greg Carnicle of the Phoenix Police Department was fatally shot. Now, the 31-year police veteran will be recognized with a special "Hold the Line" apparel fundraiser from Shield Republic Charities, the charitable arm of the Patriotic lifestyle brand Shield Republic.

On Sunday, March 29, Cmdr. Carnicle and other officers arrived at a residence after receiving a call about a domestic dispute. After some time trying to work with a neighbor in the building who was said to be acting "erratically," the 22-year-old suspect started shooting at the officers. He was later shot and killed at the scene in an officer-involved shooting.

Cmdr. Carnicle died from his gunshot wound after being transported to a nearby hospital.

The Phoenix PD commander had served in multiple positions over his three decades of service, including roles with the Special Assignments Unit, K9, and evening and weekend patrol operations. He was planning to retire from the force this summer.

Through the Hold the Line fundraiser for Cmdr. Carnicle, Shield Republic will sell honorary apparel including  t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, hoodies, ladies' tank tops and decals, all made in the USA, with 100 percent of net proceeds to be donated to the commander's family.

"We are heartbroken over this terrible event, which took the life of a noble commander so close to his retirement," said Charlie Romero, spokesperson for Shield Republic. "We wish our deepest condolences to the Phoenix Police Department and Cmdr. Carnicle's wife and children."

Cmdr. Carnicle is survived by his wife and four adult children.
