National Demolition Association Celebrates a Successful Demolition Convention & Expo
Demolition Austin welcomed nearly 1,000 attendees ranging from business owners, to contractors, to superintendents and suppliers. The high attendance was especially impressive due to the overlapping audience with the CONEXPO-CON/
Growth was visible in all facets of the convention. The Expo grew from 57 exhibitors in 2017, to 84 exhibitors in 2020. The Live DEMOlition Event featured 22 participants and 30 pieces of machinery. Demolition Austin introduced two educational workshops: Hands-On Equipment Safety and Maintenance Class and Demolition Superintendent Bootcamp.
Education continues to be a priority for NDA. The convention specifically focused on the future of demolition. Keynote speaker Seth Mattison shared insights into trends affecting the workforce and attracting the next generation of workers. Founder and President of Legacy Onward, Inc. Cathy Carroll taught a workshop navigating the ownership generation and the rising generation through succession planning. Other education highlights include an update from OSHA, an overview on workers' compensation benefits and a presentation on the Multiple Award Task Order Contracting (MATOC) program from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Demolition Austin was a celebration of advancement and accomplishments in the industry. This sentiment was recognized at the NDA Awards Banquet. All award winners are listed on the NDA website.
