One of six children, Field's troubled mother never divulged the identity of his father to him; he was separated from her by child protective services at a young age, and then shockingly kidnapped by her from his foster home.

"It was definitely an adventurous childhood…I talk to a lot of people who read the book, and they can't believe that this all happened to one person," he said.

Field pulled himself up by his bootstraps; he attended law school and became an attorney, currently practicing Probate and Estate Planning law. Married and beginninga family of his own, he always felt that something was missing from his life; the birth of his daughters drove him to seek out the final missing piece of the puzzle- who and where his father was.

"My mother had passed away years before, but as my daughters started growing up I started noticing certain skills, leanings and wondered…were they from my dad?" he said. "So the desire to know him grew as I raised my own daughters."

After years of searching and multiple dead-ends, a DNA test revealed the answer he'd been looking for. At the age of 60, Field had finally located his father. He started getting to know not only him, but a whole new family that he never knew he had.

"When we first met on national TV…I hugged him, and I could barely suppress my sobs," he said. "I felt a sense of completion…it was a release, and his whole family has accepted me. I was just there recently to visit him for his surprise 90th birthday party, and it was the first time all eight of his children were together."
