President of Time Timer®, LLC Addressed Cincinnati Entrepreneurs at Regional Seminar on Patents

CINCINNATI - March 3, 2020 - PRLog -- David Rogers, president of Time Timer®, LLC, was invited to educate Cincinnati entrepreneurs on the topic of intellectual property (IP) on Feb. 19 as part of the Elijah J. McCoy Midwest Regional U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's (USPTO) Regional Seminar for Entrepreneurs hosted by the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.

The event featured a full day of programming on intellectual property and the role of the USPTO in business, along with services and resources offered by the Patent and Trademark Clinic at the University of Cincinnati's College of Law, the Patent and Trademark Resource Center at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Invented by Rogers' mother, Jan Rogers, the Time Timer® was first patented in 1995. With over 25 registered trademarks and patents, some of the success of the Time Timer® was due to the protection provided by the USPTO. In his presentation, Rogers shared with an audience of over 40 of Cincinnati's business people how to use intellectual property and patents as an investment. Following his presentation, Rogers participated in a Q and A with event guests.

"My goal was to help other entrepreneurs understand the importance of patents for establishing credibility among stakeholders and serving as a building block for other new product development," explained Rogers. "At the same time, the process to receive one is a long process and doesn't guarantee success. It's critical to develop a go-to-market strategy and do the hard work of using the competitive advantage a patent provides to bring legitimacy to your business as a brand or market leader that is committed to developing products with integrity and quality."

Following the event, on Feb. 20, representatives from the Midwest Regional USPTO joined the Time Timer® team at their headquarters in Cincinnati to further educate and discuss the importance of intellectual property in an internationally growing business.

"It was an honor to speak in the company of such knowledgeable attorneys and specialists," says Rogers. "Our combined expertise was so beneficial for the community of business owners and those who wanted to learn."
