{9} The Gallery Presents Just Idle Hands: "Elations" For February First Friday

PHOENIX - Jan. 27, 2020 - PRLog -- {9} The Gallery presents Elations, the latest series from Phoenix artist Just Idle Hands, opening February 7th, 2020, 6-10 PM at 1229 Grand Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona. Inspired by the skills he has acquired throughout his two-decade long career in custom auto body painting, Just Idle Hands presents a new collection of vibrant, abstract works that radiate an expert knowledge of color theory, bringing an intense blend of color and technique to the canvas.

The title of Just Idle Hands' Elations collection nods to Jeff Koons while visually is closer to Rothko-meets-Mondrian in a day-glo palate. "My outlook on art is simple. "Does it excite you? Does it look cool?" When I paint, I like vibrant, loud colors that brighten a space and a person's mindset." – Just Idle Hands

At the age of fourteen, Just Idle Hands got a job sweeping the floor of a body shop in Bisbee, Arizona so he could learn how to fix his vintage Corvette. He was introduced to punk rock, hot rods, and most importantly, learning to rely on his hands, expanding his skill set and perfecting his craft in order to bring his visions to life.

"While painting cars, I realized how the eye perceives things and the basis of color theory. Building custom cars and motorcycles opened my eyes to other forms of art. Fueled by my desire to constantly create new and challenging things, I entered the contemporary art world. All of my years and skills learned have led me to this juncture." – Just Idle Hands

Among his many achievements, Just Idle Hands has done the metal fabrication on award-winning motorcycles for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and his work has been featured in Rod and Custom Magazine, Ol'Skool Rodz, and Hot Rod Magazine. He has painted multiple award-winning G Body models featured in Lowrider Supershows, award-winning hot rods at the Goodguys Car Show, and painted the "Best in Show: Import Class" at World of Wheels.

He now spends his free time painting abstracts and fabricating sculptures, furniture, jewelry, cars, toys, and motorcycles.

Just Idle Hands: Elations is on exhibit at {9} The Gallery throughout the month of February.
