Follow on Google News | ![]() Second Annual Opera on a Winter's Night Features an Array of Favorite Opera Arias and DuetsThis riveting event will feature operatic works of Mozart, Donizetti, Puccini, Rossini, Rimsky-Korsakov, Romberg, Lehar, Wagner and Bizet performed by soprano, Marcelle McGuirk, and baritone, Mark Hosseini. These performers will be accompanied by pianist, Gabriel Rebolla. The evening will feature mesmerizing duets and powerful solos, including "Cinque...dieci...ventiā¦" Marcelle McGuirk is a classical singer praised for her "vocal nuance and agility," and frequently brings her musical interpretations to the opera, concert and recital stages. Her repertoire spans the works of the Renaissance, Bel Canto and Romantic eras, and she has a special love of operetta and of 20th-21st century music. Ms. McGuirk was a National Finalist in the 2016 Classical Singer Vocal Competition, and won the Amy & James Cohen Achievement award at Opera Connecticut's 2016 American Opera Idol Competition. She has completed training programs with the Russian Opera Workshop and Crittenden Opera Workshop and attended Marywood University in Scranton, PA. Praised for his "excellent voice" by the Cape Cod Times, Mark Hosseini performs stage and concert works ranging from the Renaissance and Baroque to the 20th and 21st centuries. Mr. Hosseini has appeared as a soloist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Bachfest Malaysia, the Fort Street Chorale, the Oakland Symphony Orchestra, OSSIA, Ensemble Perihipsous and the Orchard Park Chorale. In 2018, Mr. Hosseini was a semifinalist in the Lotte Lenya Competition, a finalist in the Friends of Eastman Opera Voice Competition, and a finalist in the Jesse K. Kneisel Lieder Competition. He was a winner of the Oakland Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition in 2015, and he has received four first place awards from the Michigan Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition. Mr. Hosseini has completed young artist training programs with Des Moines Metro Opera, College Light Opera Company, and Pegasus Early Music. He holds a Master's Degree from the Eastman School of Music and a Bachelor's Degree from Oakland University. End
