ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - Dec. 16, 2019 - PRLog -- Stratford Land (http://www.stratfordland.com/) announces the sale of 16,083 pristine acres of its Ceylon property (also known as Big Pasture) in Woodbine, Georgia to The Conservation Fund and Open Space Institute. This property was part of an original portfolio of assets that were purchased from the Sea Island Company. Located adjacent to Cabin Bluff, this unique tract of land has in excess of 3 miles of frontage on the Satilla River and Todd Creek. Additionally, with over 23 miles of magnificent vista views from the marsh frontage, one can see Jekyll Island, Dover Bluff, and the Intracoastal waterway.  The undeveloped land has an approved DRI (Development of Regional Impact) and is entitled for residential, commercial and industrial development.

"Stratford Land is pleased to have The Conservation Fund and Open Space Institute purchase Ceylon for future public conservation.  Due to its location on the Georgia coast, the property has long been an important location in Camden County.  The sale is part of the way we are good stewards to the properties that we own," stated David Moore, Director of Investments for Stratford Land.

Andrew Schock, Georgia state director the Conservation Fund said in a statement, "Natural lands of this size are rare, and the ecological importance of this property has made it a top priority for conservation over the last decade." Maria Whitehead, Senior Program Manager for the Southeast at Open Space Institute stated that acquisition of the Ceylon Property will protect an estimated 4 of the 65 viable gopher tortoise populations in the state, bringing the total protected population of this species to 90 percent of their goal.

Moore adds, "Stratford seeks to identify the right buyer for each of its properties throughout its markets.  Finding the Conservation Fund and the Open Space Institute was key to this transaction. It was good working with them as they realized their goal of preserving this natural resource."

Stratford Land has two remaining parcels left from the original land acquisition from the Sea Island Company. Altama is a historic tract located on the banks of the Altamaha River. Comprising three quadrants of the I-95 / GA-99 interchange in Glynn County, Altama has approximately 895 acres remaining residential and highway commercial entitled land.  Sinclair, located on St. Simons Island, has approximately 68 acres with approval for a 121 residential lot subdivision. With limited land for development, Sinclair is positioned to take advantage of the strong demand. Both tracts have full entitlements and are available.
