Introduction Make Black America Conscious Again: Notes On Patriotism

LA VERGNE, Tenn. - Dec. 9, 2019 - PRLog -- Greetings Brethren,

Peace be unto you. There is a dire need to make intelligent transitions with respect to the evolving and on-going analysis of the Black American Experience. For the record the Black man, woman, boys and little girls have had a particular and distinct sojourn of economic depression since 1619.

Therefore, their economic contributions have been seldom counted in the realm of earned citizenship.  However second-class citizenship became challenged as freedom and voting rights all took its toll. Meanwhile Black people became accepted by law and deed into the mainstream of America just as their counter-parts the White American.

Thus, Patriotism from an intelligent Black perspective has become an integral part of Black Consciousness and necessary to better understand the Black American Experience.

Meanwhile Black American theories, concepts etc. have evolved overtime. Some have made distinct transitions. For example, the Negro who once considered himself without a home or country is the Black American. Therefore, Black Americans would be foolish to deny their ancestry, culture and the land of his birth.

During the time (Black Awareness Movement) of Black Consciousness Patriotism was not a parallel notion with White Americans. Thus, many Black people during their first thirst for Consciousness made anti-American statements and were confident in that they were correct due to the trials and tribulations of Black people since 1619.

However, this is a new day, it is 2019 and Black Conscious Americans embrace the essence of Patriotism like other Americans especially those that are described as White Americans. For the record I have found few if any White Americans that refuse to embrace the racial distinction of White as a way to distinguish themselves from Black Americans, African Americans, Africans or any other non-White people.

Meanwhile Black Consciousness and or Black Nationalism does not, cannot include other people of color that do not have enslaved ancestors. The Sages argue that the peculiar institution of slavery (North America) had a significant impact on shaping and molding the distinct culture of Blacks born in America with enslaved ancestors. Although Black Americans share some cultural traits with their brethren in Africa and throughout the Diaspora, they are not African. They also are not Hispanic, Asian or Arab.

The Black American birth-right in North America and our evolution as a distinct race has a direct bearing on our Consciousness, Nationalism and Patriotism.  Thus, our Consciousness, Nationalism and Patriotism are also distinct however with varying parallels with White Americans.

Peace and Paradise,

Carl A. Patton writing for the FreedomJournal Press Thursday 12 September 2019 in the year of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
