| ![]() The Deliciously Dark Song That Should Have Been in Disney's Maleficent: Mistress of EvilSong "What is Good?" enchants with haunting vocals and lyrics that explore the blurred lines between good and evil in the world of Disney's Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
By: Hundred Acre Music "Disney has done such a brilliant job in creating depth for Maleficent's character," says Evans. "As a songwriter, I was compelled to write a song inspired by the complex emotional and psychological motivations behind this infamous villain." The song's chorus both chills and soars with lyrics, "Darkness is misunderstood // It's doing not just what we should // This is our enchanted wood // So who decides what is good?" and perfectly captures the searing anger and rebellious spirit of Maleficent. In the music video, Evans departs from her normal sunny persona and steps into a villainous aesthetic, staring down the camera with her bright green eyes, intense and imposing. "It was fun to play a different role outside my comfort zone," reflects Evans. "I love the whimsy and romance of other Disney characters like Cinderella and Rapunzel, but there's a fierceness and power in Maleficent that's so compelling."
