J-WEL welcomes Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University as newest Higher Education Collaborative member

Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University to address faculty development and training, digital learning, and inculcating research and innovation through engagement with MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Oct. 1, 2019 - PRLog -- Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) joins the Abdul Latif Jameel World Education Lab (J-WEL) as the newest member of the Higher Education Collaborative. PDPU, a private university located in Gandhinagar, India, expects to diversify its student body and faculty and develop its blended learning curriculum through participation in J-WEL.

Through J-WEL membership, PDPU joins a community of 27 other schools, universities, non-profits, government agencies and companies addressing the world's most pressing education challenges and exploring opportunities presented by new educational technologies, effective practices, and emerging scientific understandings of learning. Other members of the Higher Education Collaborative include Universitas Padjadjaran in Indonesia, the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, and Chile's Universidad Mayor.

"We're thrilled to have Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, our first member university from India, joining J-WEL," remarked J-WEL Executive Director Dr. M.S. Vijay Kumar, "Our team is looking forward to collaborating with our PDPU colleagues on exploring innovative opportunities to advance quality education for diverse learners."

PDPU Professor Nigam Dave, Head of PDPU's Office of International Relations said, "We are excited to affiliate with the prestigious J-WEL community and look forward to working on inclusive education models for preparing the youth of tomorrow for nation building and societal impact." PDPU, which is promoted by leading Indian Industries and supported by the Government, holds long standing relations with NGOs in education for the rural community, women's empowerment, and skill development. Dr. Mukesh Ambani is the founder President of PDPU and is working towards realizing the vision of India's Honourable Prime Minister to build world class-institutions in India.

PDPU will join other members at the upcoming J-WEL Week, to be held on the MIT campus from October 28-31, 2019. Signature events of J-WEL, J-WEL Weeks bring together representatives of member organizations with MIT faculty and researchers from across MIT. Through seminars, presentations, and hands-on work, MIT participants support member efforts to transform educational systems and develop solutions applicable across global contexts. PDPU will exchange ideas and best practices in energy, social innovations, and community intervention with global affiliates of J-WEL, working toward collaborative solutions in education challenges.
