RED DEER, Alberta - Sept. 10, 2019 - PRLog -- Alberta-based Peace Fellow Maiden Manzanal-Frank offers critical thoughts on peace, conflict, and community building

RED DEER, Alberta, September 9, 2019—

Maiden Manzanal-Frank, an organizational development expert from Central Alberta, offered insights and perspectives on the current issues on peace, conflict, and community building at the Alberta Social Innovation Connect (ABSI) podcast. The podcast interview is part of the program series focused on changemakers taking a moment to reflect on their journey through complex problems. With her as a conversation partner is Prof. Glen Graham, founder, and Director of the Centre for Peace and Justice of Burman University, Alberta.

The podcast highlighted the origins and mandates of the Centre for Peace and Justice, the challenges and issues that beset communities through the Centre's creative programming through education, learning, dialogue, and collaborative projects.

Ms. Frank focused her thoughts on the need for more collaboration and cooperation, breaking the silos of different organizations and networks to create a more significant impact on community good. "Rural communities," she noted, "have the lifestyle and freedom of quietude but at the same time, it is even harder to bring communities together to work on some tough issues that only through cooperation can solve." Communities are suffering from a scarcity mentality, always thinking about constraints and limitations when assets abound in their midst. Mr. Graham focused on the importance of education to battle misinformation, hate-based communication, and misunderstanding that are the bases of many social fragmentation and conflicts in communities and throughout the world.

Elise Martinowski, Information Designer from ABSI Connect, facilitated the podcast interview. ABSI Connect will release the full recording in October 2019.

Manzanal-Frank is a proud Rotary Peace Fellow. She had her Certificate in Peace and Conflict Resolution Executive Education program from Chulalongkorn University Rotary Peace Center in 2015. Since 2017, she had been a collaborator with the Centre for Peace and Justice at Burman University and has led the strategy of the Community Reconciliation Committee of the Centre recently.

Known as the Strategy Maven, Manzanal-Frank is an award-winning consultant, advisor, speaker, and mentor to many aspiring social innovators around the world. She is well-traveled and most sought-after speaker and writer.  She is also a current Network Weaver, a collective of social innovation champions facilitated by ABSI.
