Park Place Outreach Transitional Living Program Hosts Open House for New Location
By: Carriage Trade PR
The open house will include refreshments, appetizers, and chance to learn more about the transitional living program.
The event will be held to network with local community members and to celebrate the official launch of the program.
"Every opportunity you have to demonstrate understanding and empathy to homeless youth will support their development, sense of self-worth and future potential," said program director Cheri Dean.
The transitional living program began accepting residents in February at a former location on Henry Street, and can now serve as many as six males at the new facility. Its mission is to prepare homeless, runaway and at-risk males ages 16 to 21 for independence and self-sufficiency.
The program provides housing, case management services, life skills, personal and community connections and other individualized services.
"Many of the young men we encounter have been abandoned, betrayed, misunderstood or abused by those they trust most," Dean said. "Gaining their confidence requires a deep understanding of those we serve and their adverse life experiences."
