Born in Allahabad, Dr Ravindra Nath Sharma, is a veterinary graduate from the UP College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Mathura. During his illustrious career, Dr Sharma has been bestowed with numerous accolades for his outstanding research and contribution to the field of veterinary science.  In 1976, he was selected from candidates of 39 Commonwealth countries as a consultant (poultry pathologist) to the Commonwealth Fund for Technical Cooperation (CFTC), a great honour for the IVRI and the country as a whole. During a 4-year CFTC mission in Zambia, his research findings made Zambia free of major poultry diseases.
He has also written 2 books, 4 monographs and published more than 210 research papers.  Currently, Dr Sharma serves as a professor of pathology and avian diseases and as Associate Dean, School of Graduate Studies at St. George's University, Grenada.
