Follow on Google News | Winners of the Secure Mobile Communications Hackathon AnnouncedCloudonix, TelcoBridges, and Simwood announce the winners of the CommCon 2019 Hackathon.
By: Cloudonix Ltd. The winners of the hackathon were: First To Call Prize: Numo M Reis and Jose Ferreira. Second Challenge Prize: Team 1- Perry Ismangil, Chris Matthieu, Daniel Chalom, James Body, and Dovid Bender. Third Challenge Prize: Team 3- Laura Geisen, Maya Sastges, Andrew White, and Torrey Searle. Similar to a virtual escape room, the hackathon participants had two and a half hours to solve a series of technical challenges, which involved integrating the three company's technologies and building a communications application. Reflecting the rich history of the Latimer Estate during World War II, participants were encouraged to develop spycraft-themed applications. Latimer Estate was historically used for military intelligence and interrogation of senior German prisoners of war. As a follow-up to the event, the competitors were asked to develop an application using the tasks in the Hack-a-thon to translate a call in German to English by using speech-to-text to transcribe the call, then to translate it, and then to use text-to-speech. The completed applications will be shared during a live video session on September 6th. "The near-universal success of the participants demonstrated the ease of use and configuration of FreeSBC on AWS", said Alan Percy, CMO at TelcoBridges. "We were very impressed with the participants' skills and glad to award all with gift card prizes to commemorate their success." "Simwood were delighted to be involved with such an awesome workshop, it enabled three like-minded companies to demonstrate what the open source community is capable of when faced with an interesting challenge, they utilised all of our technologies & products combined with their own technical skills. The workshop was a roaring success and we look forward to seeing the finished items in September,'' said Frazer Barnett, Sales Manager at Simwood. The hackathon team looks forward to seeing what the participants will come up with in September and seeing everybody at CommCon 2020! End
