Connect2Teach receives the UCL Educate Evidence Aware Award

May 30, 2019 - PRLog -- Connect2Teach has recently received the UCL EDUCATE Evidence Aware Edward. EDUCATE is an extensive training program based at the Knowledge lab at UCL that aims to help startups, SMEs, entrepreneurs, and educators assess, develop, and refine their products by using evidence obtained through research. It is match funded by the European Regional Development Fund and UCL's partners: UCL Engineering, the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA), Nesta and F6S, hence bringing together all the expertise required to create world-class EdTech.

Connect2Teach endeavors to bring industry-relevant learning to classrooms by connecting industry experts to academic institutions. As a part of the EDUCATE program, we developed matching algorithms for different types of opportunities to ensure that we match them to the right expert, and not only help improve learning outcomes but also help achieve business goals such as student enrolment, engagement, and employability.

We realized that while every institution has different learning and business outcomes that they want to achieve, the latter generally accounts for the former as well. It is also our belief that there is a strong correlation between who is teaching a course and the achievement of those outcomes. To make the process of matching more seamless, we studied our previous opportunities and identified both factors that we needed from institutions and factors we needed to consider while finding experts to ensure successful matches. Using the data we collected, we developed an equation and we have now successfully tested and deployed this algorithm into our matching process. In addition to developing this algorithm, we have also developed a mechanism to demonstrate the efficacy of our matches to our users.
