AURA Devices raises $1.1M Seed Round to built smart wearables for heart failure risk evaluation

WILMINGTON, Del. - April 8, 2019 - PRLog -- AURA Devices, healthcare related start-up that develops smart wearables with body composition and hydration level monitoring using bioimpedance technology, has raised 1.1 million in seed funding. The round backed by a number of angel investors. "This round will allow us to expand our R&D in terms of sensors and health data analysis. It also enables us to bring new products to the market in the next 1,5 years and build infrastructure around the user, his doctor, clinic and insurer," Stas Gorbunov, CEO of AURA Devices said.

AURA Devices started in 2016 as fitness related hardware company with body composition technology as the core one. Since that time, AURA Devices team invested much in this tech and now is moving from fitness to healthcare. Combination of BIA and heart rate monitoring allows detecting heart failure in its early stages. The head of the company believes that wearables could be more useful in the healthcare industry.

AURA Band is the first company's device, a stand-alone fitness tracker with body composition and hydration level monitoring with the help of bioimpedance technology. But it was just the beginning of new technology bringing into the wearable world. The company successfully finished its Kickstarter campaign. At the moment, the company is developing its new product - AURA Smart Strap for Apple Watch that will be available in Q2 this year. The Strap brings additional functions to Apple Watch and enlarges its functions. The device can be especially useful for workouts and diets as it can monitor body composition changes and hydration level. Moreover, the complex of the Apple Watch heart rate sensor and Smart Strap bioimpedance analysis allows us to assess the risk of heart failure in the early stages. AURA Smart Strap supports Apple Watch Series 1-4 and works up to 9 months on a single coin cell. It provides all the AURA App features with a special app for Apple Watch.
