Local Attorney to Launch Mobile Hygiene Program to Serve the ABQ Homeless CommunityAlbuquerque Attorney, Chelsea Van Deventer will launch the program, Rolling Clean, later this year
By: Rolling Clean In preparation for the launch, Van Deventer recently traveled to California for a 3 day hands-on training with a similar program that serves South Central Los Angeles. While on site, Van Deventer helped facilitate around 40 showers a day. Van Deventer said she was able to see first-hand what a powerful, stabilizing force a hot shower really is for a person on the streets. Once fully operational, Rolling Clean estimates that it will provide over 11,000 showers and bathroom breaks annually. "Providing access to showers and bathroom breaks will deliver dignity and restore humanity to people living on the streets. It's about helping people feel like people during the dehumanizing experience of homelessness," The Albuquerque community can get involved with this program in a number of ways, including donating much-needed money and hygiene & cleaning products, as well as volunteering their time. A list of most-needed items is available at rollingclean.org. End
