Thousands of Underprivileged Children to Benefit from Yours Humanly Fundraising

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - March 12, 2019 - PRLog -- At its February 2019 Gift of Schooling Gala, held at the Blackhawk Automotive Museum, Yours Humanly raised $92,000 for its local and global programs that provide underprivileged children in underserved communities access to quality education.

In addition to supporting Yours Humanly's ongoing initiatives, gala funds will purchase an entire STEM kit that will benefit 13,000 students in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District (MDUSD, Contra Costa County, CA). Internationally, funds will provide annual scholarships to children in Haiti, Cambodia, and Nepal, funding their tuition and educational materials, as well as the purchase and installation of computers at an underserved school in Cambodia for students from impoverished neighborhoods.

Gala emcee Betty Yu, KPIX news reporter, welcomed guest speakers MDUSD Superintendent Dr. Nellie Meyer, Walnut Creek City Councilmember Justin Wedel, and Chenda Chhi, a Khmer Rouge genocide survivor and founder of Coral Tree Education Foundation, whose mission is to foster a new generation of educated Cambodians, especially girls.
