HYDERABAD, India - March 8, 2019 - PRLog -- A new report that was released by the Centre for Policy Alternatives in Canada has studied the role of women and gender equality in more than 25 metropolitan cities in Canada. The study, which also features women who have immigrated to Canada, was the fifth edition of an annual feature, studied the status of women with respect to their access to parameters such as personal safety, economic security, managerial opportunities, education levels, and skills training.

In the study, it was found that British Columbia PNP (https://globaltree.in/services/immigration/canada-immigration-consultant/pnp/british-columbia-provincial-nominee-program/) ranked high on woman's empowerment, with two of its cities Victoria and Vancouver featuring on the top 10 list at third and fifth place respectively, while the honor of first place went to Kingston in Ontario

The government of Ontario conducted a continuous consultation with local businesses to learn more about gender wage gap among immigrant and local women and adjusted accordingly, which can be seen as a probable cause for its success. The center praised the efforts of the provinces for making the status quo more equal among the genders but stated that a lot more needs to be done and improvements were required from all stake holders.

Progress has been steadily made but has been largely uneven according to one of the lead researchers, who said that a much faster pace was expected in addressing the issues concerning women. The researcher also opined that, a lot more needs to be done to eliminate social and cultural barriers that remain entrenched in the Canadian society.

There has been a steady progress in the domain of leadership with was said the largest gap is in the domain of leadership, and more women are breaking the glass ceiling to take up roles as industry and political leaders. The cities have expressed their commitment to reducing the gap between women and reduce the inherent bias against women among sectors such as construction, technology and science, which are traditionally seen as the stronghold for men.
