The Monuments Week program created and hosted by Sports Tours International begins with the Gran Fondo version of the longest one-day race on the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale)
"The five Monuments of Cycling are very special and difficult bike races in the world of pro cycling. Logistically the challenge of riding all these routes in one week would be very difficult to put together yourself," notes Ross Litherland, Sports Marketing Manager for Sports Tours International. "Along the way cyclists are supported both on and off bike by our highly experienced team. This support includes convenient hotels, full mechanical support and the services of a tour soigneur." Riders will feel what it's like to be a Pro rider.
The per person double rate is £1899 (£489 single supplement). This includes:
· Arrival airport transfers from Milan Malpensa to the hotel in Milan
· Return airport transfers from Roubaix to Brussels airport
· Event entry and T shirt to Gran Fondo Milan-San Remo plus Day License
· 9 nights hotel accommodation
· All hotel taxes
· 9 breakfasts and 5 evening meals
· Packed lunches
· Pasta Party the evening before Gran Fondo Milan Sanremo and on arrival in San Remo.
· Bike storage at the hotels
· Luggage and bike box transfer on ride days
· Transfers between hotels
· A Sports Tours International cycling jersey made by Santini
· Sports Tours staff support and access to the Tour Soigneur
Cyclists are supported on the ground by Sports Tours International's Spring Classics team led by pro team experienced mechanic and driver Roy Pearson and Pro team Soigneur Moshe Cohen who has worked with the Israel cycling academy.
June 7 is arrival day in Milan in preparation for the June 9 Gran Fondo Milan-Sanremo, a 302km course. Participants transfer that evening to Como to be ready for Il Lombardia, a 247km course the next day. After a travel and rest day comes Liege Bastogne Liege on June 12, the oldest of the Monuments. The next day participants tackle the Tour of Flanders, a 260km route which features the longest, cobbled climb in Flanders, De Oude Kwaremont. Arguably the toughest of the five monuments is also the last, Paris Roubaix on the June 15, the "Hell of the North" at 258km and features 55km of cobblestones.
One final evening spent relaxing follows with a fair bit of celebration thrown in for good measure. On Sunday June 16, (Departure Day) participants are transferred to Brussels International Airport for flights home.
