Paxon High School String Quartet to join the pros

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Feb. 27, 2019 - PRLog -- When the touring show Beatles vs. Stones – A Musical Showdown comes to the Ritz Theatre on March 16, the Paxon High School (Jacksonville) String Quartet will join the professional musicians on stage to lend some local talent to this homage to the British Invasion.

The show pits Rolling Stones tribute band Satisfaction against rival Brit boys Abbey Road in an all-out musical showdown for rock dominance. The string quartet will perform seven songs with the bands.

The show:
 The two greatest rock 'n' roll bands of all time face off in Beatles vs. Stones - A Musical Showdown. Taking the side of the Fab Four is Abbey Road, one of the nation's top Beatles tribute bands. With brilliant musicianship and authentic costumes and gear, Abbey Road plays beloved songs spanning the Beatles' career. They engage in a "showdown" of the hits with Stones tribute band Satisfaction - The International Rolling Stones Show, who offer a faithful rendition of the music and style of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and the bad boys of the British Invasion. The production includes multimedia, period costumes and vintage instruments. It has toured for years, with a critic for the Los Angeles Times at one point declaring: "this is the most unique tribute show in decades." The show is part of a 125 city tour of the U.S., Canada and Australia.

The string quartet: Paxon High School senior Olivia Adelle Walker, junior Jessica Rinosa, sophomore Nehemiah Stovall-Wright, and freshman Alexander Roes and will join the bands for the songs "Eleanor Rigby," "Yesterday," "A Day in the Life," "Hello Goodbye," "Hey Jude," "As Tears Go By," and "Ruby Tuesday."

Quartet members belong to prestigious area ensembles including, the Jacksonville Youth Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Program.

How the "Beatles" and "Stones" connection was started: The producers of Beatles vs. Stones approached Paxon High Director of Instrumental Music Roland Jones looking for a talented ensemble that could hold their own with a rock band in front of an audience.

The quartet's Beatles or Stones fans: Jessica Rinosa is the quartet's Beatles fan.

"I really enjoy playing 'Hey Jude' and 'Yesterday'. I'm excited we to get to play them in the Beatles vs. Stones show," said Jessica.

The details: Two of the greatest bands of all time face off in a high-energy, adrenaline-pumping musical showdown. The Fab Four, represented by tribute band Abbey Road, will engage in a barrage of hits against premier Rolling Stones tribute band Satisfaction. Beatles vs. Stones – A Musical Showdown comes to the Ritz Theatre in Jacksonville on Saturday, March 16 at 7:30 pm. Jessica Rinosa
, 17, has been playing violin for eight years. She is a member of the Jacksonville Youth Symphony Orchestra.

"I like making music because it's an outlet for me, where I can make myself feel better on bad days. I also like that it makes other people happy when I play."

She is a member of Mu Alpha Theta and the Science National Honors Society at PHS. Jessica also competes on the school's swim team.

The junior hopes to attend the University of Florida to become a dermatologist.

Alexander Roes, 14, has been playing violin for ten years. He is a member of the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra where he also participates in their chamber music program.

"I like how in an orchestra everything feels real and how nothing really feels cheap or forgotten about since there are so many people working on all the parts."

He is a member of the Paxon High School Chorus and the Jacksonville Children's Chorus.

The freshman plans to attend college and pursue a career in music.

Nehemiah Stovall-Wright, 15, has been playing viola for two years. He chose the viola to set him apart from other students who play the violin.

"I like interacting with the different people in orchestra and having us all work together to produce something that sounds really nice."

Nehemiah participates in the chess club at Paxon and the Pre-IB Program.

The sophomore is interested in studying law or becoming a contractor.

Olivia Adelle Walker, 18, has been playing the cello for three years. She enjoys playing piano too.

"I have always liked music, so being able to play a string instrument and have a class at school dedicated to it has really been beneficial to my growth as a musician."

Olivia is the PHS Student Government Association President, where she enjoys planning pep rallies and other school-wide events. She is a member of the school's National Honors Society and National Society of High School Scholars.

The senior plans to attend Hampton University and major in Biology and minor is Psychology with the hopes of becoming a neurologist.
